Sears Stirs Up Twitter And Gets Rewarded

Ramping up to their January 8 hearing, Sears’ tweeting increased each week over the past 30 days. On January 7, Sears responded to posts on Twitter about their potential shutdown with positively feisty comments.

At the hearing, Sears asked a U.S. bankruptcy judge if the company could proceed with liquidation after failing to reach a deal on Chairman Edward Lampert’s $4.4 billion takeover bid.

On January 11, Lampert’s new takeover bid of more than $5 billion confirms the likelihood that Sears will stay in business and preserve 50,000 jobs.
