Apple Bends App Store Guidelines For Self Promo

Oh, the irony. Apple is bending its own rules by sending push notifications to promote Apple Music, offering three-month free trials and one-month free for referred members.

Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines state, “push notifications… should not be used for advertising, promotions, or direct marketing purposes.”

This isn’t the first time:

Apple previously sent push notifications for their Carpool Karaoke show and new iPhone model releases to those part of the iPhone Upgrade Program.
