High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a growing fitness trend and consists of cardiorespiratory training with rounds of high-intensity exercises done in a short period. While it’s beneficial for fast and effective workouts, there can be a risk of injury if done incorrectly.
How to prevent knee and joint pains:
- Warm-up beforehand. Prep your muscles, tendons, and joints with dynamic stretching or cardio.
- Land softly. HIIT incorporates a lot of jumping. Landing incorrectly or roughly can strain your joints. Pay attention to your form and try to land softer to alleviate pressure.
- Slow down. Speeding through exercises too fast will stress your body. Focus on moving from your core.
- Cooldown. Stretch after a workout. This transition to a resting state slows your heart
rate,and promotes muscle recovery.
