UN Unveils Floating City Concept

On Wednesday, a floating city concept was unveiled at the United Nations roundtable. The concept, Oceanix City, is designed by Bjarke Ingels in collaboration with Oceanix, a company that builds floating structures.

The city is built to withstand natural disasters and will produce its own power, fresh water, and heat. It will be a collection of hexagonal platforms able to have up to 10,000 residents. Pneumatic trash tubes will transport garbage to a sorting station to be repurposed. The introduction of ocean farming will reduce waste and produce food.
